Frequently Asked Questions
(featuring some humor…)
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. I require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of your total services booked including any travel accommodations if applicable. I will refund the deposit if I am unable to perform the services for you.
Do you require a signed contract?
Yes. The contract protects both the Client and the Photographer and is standard practice. My contract should also deter Karen’s and Chad’s. So, if you are not a Karen or a Chad, you have nothing to worry about 🫶🏼
I just want to have a good time and create some art for likeminded people and businesses that can be cherished forever.
Do you travel?
Absolutely - but the final price will reflect any necessary accommodations including but not limited to: airfare, parking fees/valet, hotel rooms, per diem, and/or transportation. This will be clearly communicated between the Client and Photographer.
Businesses hiring me for headshots or team photos: I will travel to your office if there is adequate space for my equipment (light(s), back drop(s), chair, etc.) An empty office or conference room would be ideal. Office decor may be used if desired instead of a standard blank backdrop.
How do I book with you?
Please submit the form on the “Services” or “Contact” page with a good e-mail/phone number to reach you back at. The message should include any details I should know about such as location, vibe, etc. to give you an estimate back. I personally prefer to communicate via e-mail, so I will likely respond via e-mail. If you have image inspo, you can attach those after our first initial e-mail.
Do you offer payment plans?
The deposit must be paid in full in order to reserve the date (I start denying other inquiries at this point) but the remaining 50% can be made in payments agreed upon together. The full amount is due before or the day of the shoot, so please plan the date of the shoot accordingly. The images/videos will not be delivered until the payment plan is complete.
Do you do partnerships?
Yes. I will accept them for myself, or photograph your own partnerships. However, we must discuss use terms which can increase the cost of your session (reference non-exclusive/exclusive rights question below.)
P.S. - the partnership must align with myself and make sense to do. Don’t make it weird and ask me to do a shady pyramid scheme shoot…
Do you allow rescheduling?
Depends on the situation or habitual rescheduling patterns. Let’s chat to come up with a solution that works for both of us and your deposit will be moved to the new date; I know sh!t happens. On the flip side, repeat offenders will forfeit their deposit and a new deposit must be paid. My time is just as valuable as yours.
Do you photograph engagements/elopements/weddings?
I do! I was a makeup artist specializing in bridal, so I know how to capture the beauty of these special moments. On the inquiry form, select “other” and let me know the details about your big day! Congratulations!
Do you do pet/animal shoots?
Hell to the yeah. Except for less favorable pets like snakes/spiders - bye.
These types of shoots will fall under the “portrait” category. Please make sure to notify me if your pet is joining us so I can plan accordingly, and please ensure your pet is comfortable in the environment desired. I never want a pet to be uncomfortable for photos.
Can I keep you on retainer for my business?
Yes! Let’s work out a plan of attack with frequency and needs/goals that works for you and your business.
Can I mix and match services on your rate cards?
Absolutely! I understand not everyone’s needs are the same. My rate cards are a visual starting point for us. For example, if you need more photos and no social media support, we can discuss what additional photos or services you would prefer. Note pricing will vary, which is why all my services have a “starting at” rate.
Do you still offer makeup if you’re the photographer?
I sure do, and is considered an add-on service ONLY for single-person portraits and executive portraits (think business cards, company websites, LinkedIn, etc.). And to the men, yes, men wear makeup for these types of scenarios. Don’t be shy. You actually think Ryan Reynolds skin looks that good naturally? Hate to break it to you…I know his makeup artist. Men’s grooming is very much so a niche industry; very minimal, polished look.
All my products are professional grade cosmetics, meaning they are meant to read well on camera and sit nicely on top of the skin. Being a media artist both in front and behind the camera, I know how crucial it is that skincare/makeup read appropriately on camera and in certain environments. All the makeup you see on my website is done by me. Disclaimer: I do NOT do hair.
Do you find the location and theme for the shoot?
Sometimes. Standard studio shoots are at one of two locations, either Carson City or Reno depending on the context and tier of the shoot itself. It also depends on what the Client wants - if you have a particular location in mind, please let me know. I have a few locations we can visit depending on the shoot style.
As for the theme, these are technically your shoots, you should have more or less of an idea of what you are trying to accomplish within the scope of the package selected. I am there to help you capture that vision and will give creative direction for poses, settings, props, etc. during the shoot based on your overall goal with these photos/videos.
If you trust me to have full creative control, say the word and I will do my thing.
Can I edit your photos after you send them to me or can I have RAW images?
No to both. This goes for almost all well-established photographers. Photographers and other artists alike hone in on their craft and are specifically hired/chosen because of our vision, style, and technique. For example, I am not a “warm tone/grainy” photographer. I only do it when it is necessary and fits the vibe. Your edits become a representation of my work, and if it is not an accurate representation, I will not work with you again. Depending on your package, revision edits are allowed, so please communicate your desires within scope of my artistry.
But let’s be honest, I try to knock it out of the park for you from the get-go.
What is the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive rights to the images and videos?
Non-exclusive rights is typically the standard for most people. The Client can use the images/videos for basic things like social media, resumes, “About Us” pages on company websites, etc. but cannot use the images for partnerships, promotional ads, or monetary gain without permission from the Photographer. Under non-exclusive rights, the Photographer maintains sole ownership of the images/videos and may use them for any purpose, mainly portfolio use.
Exclusive rights are usually for businesses and means the Client is now the sole owner of the images, and can use the images for any purpose including promotional ads, billboards, and print etc, while the Photographer forfeits those rights and cannot use them for other purposes as defined in the exclusivity contract. Exclusivity rights carry their own fee on top of the Photographer rate.
This can also be why business packages are more - it’s best of both worlds. The Photographer takes into consideration that the business will use these images to drive in revenue like exclusive rights would allow, but without exclusive rights pricing, aka we both win and we can both use the images how we wish. Why is it important for a photographer to want some rights? Because we want to be able to share our work within our portfolios and social media.
Do you do trade shoots?
Depends, but usually no. I’m pretty well seasoned, and at this point, the trade shoot would need to benefit me, such as testing new equipment before using it on Clients, trying new techniques, adding value to my portfolio, etc. while you benefit from photos. I’m not here to do free “influencer” pictures that have no intentional purpose. You’ll need to book a shoot, unless I offer to you directly.
